ABOUT
ABOUT ME

Luku Kukuku is South Australia’s favourite multidisciplinary multimedia guru, well known for his specialities of Art, Design, Animation, Digital Media, Interactivity and Sound Responsive Multimedia. For over a  decade, Luku has been using this varied palette of skills to forge an expanding and award winning career in the Australian art landscape.

The magic of imagination, the delight of creativity, and the thrill of light, colour, and motion constantly drive Luku to strive towards new forms of artistic expression which fully capture the revolutionary tools at our disposal at this wonderful point in history.

WHAT I DO

Making work which transcends the limitations of the screen is Luku’s forte. Along with a celebrated artistic career steeped in vivid daubist paintings and exuberant exhibition curation, Luku’s multimedia expertise now often manifests in the form of large scale mapped projections, animations, motion graphics, sound responsive light shows, motion controlled interactive spectacles, all topped with a healthy dollop of twisted, colourful madness. Luku has made a wide variety of multimedia work for festivals, television, theatre and live music, as well as museums and businesses throughout Australia.

WHAT I'VE DONE

Since 2017, Luku has been curating and creating digital artworks at the d'Arenberg Cube, including the immersive 360 degree alternate reality experience.

From 2011 - 2017 Luku was lead animator and interactive multimedia creative at Illuminart, the multi-award winning Light Art company, creating colourful and captivating animated content for projections and interactive extravaganzas such as the State Library of SA's 'Story Wall',  Gotye's 'Fractured Heart' in Sydney's Vivid Festival, and Slingsby's 'Ode to Nonsense' at Her Majesty's Theatre (amongst many others).

In 2016, to his great delight, Luku also teamed up with the Zephyr Quartet and Jo Kerlogue to make dazzlingly surreal animated accompaniments and highly immersive projected soundscapes for the critically acclaimed 'Exquisite Corpse' in the Adelaide Festival of Arts
